FAQ
When is holiday pay due?
When contracted weekly hours are 15 or more and you worked every scheduled day that week. Below a four-week average of 15 hours it is not due at all.
How are the holiday hours worked out?
In proportion to contracted weekly hours: 8 hours at 40 hours a week, 4 hours at 20, 3 hours at 15. Above 40 hours the figure stays capped at 8 hours.
How is the monthly equivalent calculated?
One week's holiday pay multiplied by the average number of weeks in a year (365÷7) and divided by 12. The amount actually paid varies slightly with the weeks in each month.
Does it apply to part-time work?
Yes. The same rules apply to part-time workers: 15 hours or more a week plus full attendance on scheduled days.
