Take-Home Pay Calculator
Work out your monthly take-home pay after the four social insurances and income tax, with every deduction itemised.
How to use
- Choose whether you are entering an annual or a monthly figure. An annual amount is divided into 12 monthly payments.
- Type the gross amount. Replacing the default with your real pay updates every number at once.
- Set the monthly non-taxable allowance (meals, car upkeep and similar) plus your dependants and the number of children aged 8–20.
- Pick the withholding-table rate you filed with your employer (80%, 100% or 120%) and the take-home figure plus the breakdown appear instantly.
FAQ
How is the take-home figure worked out?
Taxable pay (monthly pay minus the non-taxable allowance) is reduced by the national pension, health insurance, long-term care and employment insurance contributions, then by the income tax and local income tax from the withholding-table formula.
How do I count dependants?
Count yourself as well. Add a spouse, parents or anyone you actually support — more dependants raise the basic deduction in the withholding table and lower the tax.
What counts as non-taxable pay?
Items such as meal allowances, car upkeep and childcare allowance that are free of income tax and social insurance. Your payslip lists them separately.
Why does this differ from my year-end settlement?
This estimates the tax withheld each month using the withholding-table method. Year-end settlement adds special deductions and special tax credits, so the final bill can differ.
What do the 80% and 120% rates mean?
The withholding-table ratio you can request from the tax office. Choosing 80% withholds a little less each month and settles the difference at year end.
