FAQ
How is severance pay calculated?
Severance = average daily wage × 30 × (days employed ÷ 365). The average daily wage is the pay received over the last three months divided by the number of days in that period.
Do bonuses and unused-leave pay count?
Yes. Bonuses and leave pay issued during the last three months are part of the wage total. Enter them separately and only the three-month share is used.
Is there severance pay for less than a year of work?
Severance pay requires at least one year of continuous service. Under a year the calculator shows 0 and explains why.
Is the after-tax figure what I actually receive?
It is an estimate with retirement income tax and local income tax deducted. The final amount is fixed by the National Tax Service method, so it can differ by a few won.
